Qualcomm Unveils 10nm Snapdragon 710 Chip With AR & AI Features

Qualcomm is finally launching a new SoC in the Snapdragon 700 lineup, which it announced earlier, that comes with newer Kryo cores and AI features like Huawei’s recent Kirin processors.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform will blur the line between flagships and mid-rangers as its performance is somewhere in between the mid-range Snapdragon 660 and the flagship 835/845 SoC’s. Moreover, the 710 uses the latest Kryo 360 CPU.

AI Photography Features

The new 710 will bring hardware-level AI photography, present in some flagships, to cheaper mid-rangers. It features inherent neural network processing thanks to its multi-core AR Engine. For photography, it has a Spectra 250 image signal processor which cancels out artifacts in images using multi-frame noise cancellation.
Moreover, it has powerful AI that can pair up with vendor’s camera apps to perform ‘realistic’ background blur and effective depth sensing. Kedar Kondap, Qualcomm’s product management VP said,
The Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform is the first in the newly defined and highly significant 700-tier, offering technologies and features previously only available in our premium-tier mobile platforms. By incorporating key AI capabilities and performance advancements, the Snapdragon 710 is designed to transform our customers products into the ultimate personal assistant, enhancing critical everyday consumer experiences, such as high-end camera features that will benefit from on-device high-speed AI processing, without sacrificing battery life

More Efficient

It’s a complete package, the 710 is the company’s modern solution for smartphone processing and promises 40% more power efficiency when compared to the 660 – a widely known SoC for its efficiency – and comes with Quick Charge 4+ that can juice up a device to 50% within 15 minutes.
Noted vendors and partners of Qualcomm have already got their hands on the Snapdragon 710. Reports say that devices running this new processor will start launching soon in Q2 2018. As technology becomes more advanced day by day, even cheap devices will start coming with high-end processors with flagship grade features.
